Drainage chamber [| ] The drainage chamber is found via the sewer entrance southeast of the broadcast tower. It can be reached by using the downed radio tower as a bridge across the canyon that separates the manhole from the broadcast tower. The manhole is south of the far end of the downed tower. Before his death, the assumed broadcaster set a number of traps and barricaded himself in the lone room in the manhole. This is quite a dangerous location due to several very nicely placed traps, providing an entertaining challenge for experts. • In the entrance corridor there are two pressure plates connected to rigged shotguns. • The path further up is blocked by a barricade made with some arms cabinets and a barrel. Nov 08, 2008 Okay has anyone taken the time to figure out what the morse code radio signals say or are all about? B5C, Nov 8, 2008 #5. Hi, As you know there is a voicemail button on all iPhones, I was using an iPhone 4 on Tesco mobile and my voicemail button worked grand. Now I have an iPhone 5 but when I press the voicemail button I get this message 'Cannot connect to voicemail call your service provider for assistance'. Would you be able to send me on the code again? Krystal sent it to me before and I've checked everywhere but I can't find it. Thanks a million. Hi Laup1981 I'm afraid the short code that was previously used on other iPhones to set the voice mail button on the iPhone 5 does not work. For now you may need to call 171 to check your voice mail. Once we have a fix to this we'll post here. Learn how you can check your voicemail messages without placing a call. Play messages from your screen and more with this app. May 25, 2015. Windows XP Activation Crack Key is windows activator. By Windows XP Activation Serial Number keygen use can use this windows activation without installation. I need to (re)activate a fully licensed Windows XP64 installation. But, the MS activation server seems to be off-line. My company has some expensive special purpose HW with custom drivers that are critical for a long term project. There are no drivers available for any other version of Windows, and the company that wrote the current ones is no longer in business. The system is never used for browsing or such, so Internet security is not an issue. I just replaced a broken HD, cloned the contents from a recent backup to a new HD, replaced a dying CD reader, and it seems I tripped MS's activation threshold. Yes, I could go with the XP emulation offered under Win7. But, if I can just get the current WinXP re-activated quickly, that would be better. What I had, worked just fine for many years. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. So, the question is 'I know MS no longer supports XP re patches, updates, & such. But, do they provide a way to re-activate existing installations?' I'm pretty sure you can still activate it, but they might have taken the servers offline. Just do phone activation. No that makes no sense. Why would I (M$) stop funding automated server authentication that has a much smaller cost than the cost of multiple call center buildings, electricity / upkeep of those buildings, desks, furniture, security, computer systems, then the users of those system (call center person your saying to call), management and associated HR costs for having those employees, the facilities and computer people to keep all that running, all to take phone calls that automated systems regionalized in virtual server farms would be ALOT LESS COSTS? And don't say 'oh they already have those and they just do the XP too', because you just double to triple your workers 'calls' and now they can NOT answer for the products they do support. Do you really want to be on hold a hour and a half to get a answer why Office365 isn't saving a document? Or how your hardware partner's new HP Tablet needs a restore and how to do that in Windows 8 for great grandma in Connecticut? See if they kill one, they kill both. You would call in, they would politely inform you that they do not provide support for depreciated software (BTW you would get the same answer right now on your Windows 7 question too, because as a CONSUMER - aka not Corporate account - Windows 7 is no longer supported) and would offer the opportunity to upgrade to currently supported Operating System. I have never had to 'activate' my XP installs. I don't even have the network cable plugged in while installing. I enter the activation code and bingo, it works. I do have corporate serial though that works for 8 pcs. Does the corporation allow you to do that, otherwise your speaking about a PIRATED edition, and Tomshardware does not support or allow any such discussions about that. As soon as you plug in your network connection it 'activates' or else you wouldn't be receiving updates, it would block you after 30 days. Additionally the rules about XP apply to Corp edition too. Currently I am quite aware each computer costs a additional $200 this year with XP on it, and then will be charged a additional $400 next year from Microsoft for Corp Accounts, and I any 'fixes' has to be done as a Engineering purchased project, which starts at $15K to INITIATE the process, not even to actually do the work / provide a solution, that is a additional cost. So financially it isn't beneficial to any company out there (costs exceed that of a replacement system). I need to (re)activate a fully licensed Windows XP64 installation. But, the MS activation server seems to be off-line. And Windows 7 for CONSUMERS is no longer supported. That means if Mr./Mrs. Consumer calls M$ about a problem they will be told the same thing I just said. We do not support depreciated software, but I can offer you the opportunity to upgrade to our currently supported OS. If you try and 'lie' that your a CORP, you can't, is a totally different set of numbers, offices, and locations, AND as part of the BUSINESS LICENSE CONTRACT you would need to provide you CORP account so they can charge for the services rendered. Which if your lying you do NOT have a CORP account that you are a registered authorized participant on and well back to the Consumers line you go. I need to (re)activate a fully licensed Windows XP64 installation. But, the MS activation server seems to be off-line. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. So, the question is 'I know MS no longer supports XP re patches, updates, & such. But, do they provide a way to re-activate existing installations?' Honestly OP; BLAH BLAH heard it before excuses. A Manager / Decision Maker / Stakeholder has to be told the TO BAD SORRY answer. You put off what you were supposed to invest in (can your company vehicles drives 100,000miles on the same tires? What happens when they reach 200,000 miles you keep using them? NO YOU REPLACE THEM) and you didn't and now you will have to pay 2-10x what you could have paid before. You need to suck it up, hire a Business Systems Analyst to review this 'special purpose expensive HW' and find your solutions you will HAVE to suck up and buy into. Honestly the BSA will give you the same answers, if this 'critical' system shuts down tomorrow and there is no way to fix it, what impact does that have to your bottom line, is that less then replacing it? If not then as a COST SAVINGS it is time to retire the risk. Secondly your totally fooling yourself 'The system is never used for browsing or such, so Internet security is not an issue.' You apparently never had a RISK ASSESSMENT done, because ANY Analyst would have provided to you Suxnet as a shining example of a HW that is expensive special purpose, was compromised and it never was used for browsing and such. In fact the hardware was under strict MILITARY control, with extreme level security and severe restricted access. Nuclear Centrifuge hardware. Yet it was infected and taken down, so how LESS secure is yours in comparison to some simple OOPS by a worker? And that addage ' If it ain't broke, don't fix it.' Doesn't apply to depreciation items. As I noted a company vehicle depreciates overtime, and so does the bathroom piping in your building, the electrical wiring to a segment of your building now being repurposed for other uses, and so on. You and your Management need a wake up call to understand computers are as much a INFRASTRUCTURE item as the toilet, the parking lot, the machinists tools, electrical wiring, etc. And such needs to be CALCULATED in for depreciation, which XP is PAST THAT TIME PERIOD. Think now your at 300,000 miles on your delivery truck and you keep saying If it ain't broke, don't fix it, well in comparison to your new HD, replaced a dying CD reader, you just replaced the Engine and Transmission in it again, and now you realize it is a LEAD Engine you still been using when LEAD gas is no longer sold, how will you get around it? See this is where RIsk and Cost-Benefit analysis comes in, and someone (MANAGEMENT) needs to step up and make a well educated decision on the RISKS, COSTS and BENEFITS. You are at a point now you either have a non-PRODUCTIVE piece of equipment or you have to deal with addressing the problem (it has to be replaced). Oh BTW, do note: 4K drives are the norm now, and they require a UEFI motherboard to function, and only sold in the current SATA III format, which XP has no way of understanding nor the BIOS. So you can't just 'reformat it' it is embedded at the HW layer, and if your drives and such go down again, that also is a HW issue you can't get around (no one selling old drives). Also, I am aware of the forum rules, but thanks for reiterating them. Just re-installed a machine 3 weeks ago. No issues at all. I have never had to 'activate' my XP installs. If you're using it at home.that all depends on your licensing agreement with MS. But we're off track here with the OP's issue. Wcrouch.have you gotten this fixed? Tom, If you called about a PROBLEM, yes. You seem to be confusing support with activation. They WILL activate it. You are also wrong about XP VLK's. They don't activate. They will do a WGA check if you try to update. Even if it fails, you still have access to security updates and service packs. You didn't READ what I stated. I said 'You would call in, they would politely inform you that they do not provide support for depreciated software (BTW you would get the same answer right now on your Windows 7 question too, because as a CONSUMER - aka not Corporate account - Windows 7 is no longer supported) and would offer the opportunity to upgrade to currently supported Operating System.' SO calling in for ACTIVATION or a Windows 7 question (aka SUPPORT) would both yield the same answer (note I made the distinction for a CONSUMER edition as the OP never stated what licensing they are using but appears COTS solution not Corp)> 2) So I listened to what you said and decided to test your theory. Click download SP3, gets you We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found. So, maybe Technet might still have it, but seems your incorrect on that as well. Just as you can't get depreciated updates for Windows 2000, 98, NT4, etc. So XP has gone to the grave, Windows 7 is now buried, and the shovel being used to seal both 7 & 8's fate is Windows 10 (One OS to RULE THEM ALL! SO calling in for ACTIVATION or a Windows 7 question (aka SUPPORT) would both yield the same answer (note I made the distinction for a CONSUMER edition as the OP never stated what licensing they are using but appears COTS solution not Corp)> bzzzzzzz Wrong. Activation and help desk support are two completely different things. Windows 7 is still being sold. It is on extended support (security fixes) for the rest of this decade. If I cranked up a new Win 7 install today, it would activate just fine. Either online, or via the phone robot. I also have a fully legitimate “outdated” Win XP software package for personal use (not corporate). I’m a computer hobbyist who occasionally builds or rebuilds new or vintage desktop systems “from scratch”. When I attempt to activate my Win XP by phone the recorded robot informs me that Microsoft will Activate XP Software: “when customers transfer the full package product license to a new system.” By nature spoken legalese sets off my caution buttons, so I am concerned by what this phrase may mean. Is this simply a reference to a new hardware configuration? Or am I “transferring my full package product license' to any other legal entity?? I'm sorry if I sound paranoid; but Micro$oft has always affected me that way. I also have a fully legitimate “outdated” Win XP software package for personal use (not corporate). This might help: Today (May 5th 2016), I did fresh installs of XP SP3 on 4 used laptops I recently acquired. Two activated first time over the Internet, and two didn't. After much head scratching, I suddenly realised that the two that had activated had good CMOS batteries, and the two that didn't had dead CMOS batteries. Consequently, two of them had the correct date and time, and two didn't. I then reset the date and time on the two with dead CMOS batteries, and lo and behold, they then activated over the Internet perfectly. As to why the correct date and time seem to be required for activation, I have no idea. I hope this helps. Regards Chris H. I need to (re)activate a fully licensed Windows XP64 installation. Timing is the basic computer function that has to be accurate in order to ensure communication between A to B is valid (used as offset calculation value). It also signifies and validates the timezone, which is the locational address you physically are, the network you connect to, the Internet locations your network claims to be coming from, and then validate through the 'cloud' to MS servers. So if your in Indiana, your 'time' shouldn't be set for India, which would invalidate your edition of U.S. Windows your trying to certify. As well as the calculations done in the 'checks' to validate I sent 'this is my name' value to MS server and the 'time' it takes and so on it should have a value of 'this is my name' + takes 1.234ms from Indiana, where as if validating from India, it would take 3.567ms wait this doesn't calculate right. Just so you know, running XP is totally incompatible with all current / recent editions of software out there (Games, Office Suites, drivers, etc.) and there are no 'drivers' to fix many common issues (Why can't I get this USB Wifi to work? So it isn't practical to use, just as it isn't practical to use Windows 2000, or 98. I had no problems before cos msi supported dolby drivers was working. I did a clean w7 install yesterday and seems dolby's utility aint working(crashing) with W7 64 bit. And only 2 speakers are working atm. How can I activate the other 2 speakers and the (mini)sub woofer? I installed latest realtek drivers, went into control panel+sound settings and changed settings to quadraphonic/5.1/7.1 and tried/tested them but no sound from additional speakers. Also there is a dolby tab in properties; I checked 'sound space expander' and 'Natural Bass' there but no help. Thanks in advance. Yes tho, I formatted it right away and installed win7. I've always used win7 x32 with this laptop. Dolby used to work just fine till last format(to x64). Now when I try to use dolby's application it just crashes. What I dont understand is why win7 doesnt recognize all the speakers? It seems msi stopped supporting this model so did dolby. Tho, there never been a dolby driver on official site, It came in a CD. I even tried other brands dolby tools(lenovo/asus) no help from them either. It's not that big loss but when there are 2 more speakers and a sub woofer I cant use. IStock There are a number of components that determine how well each computer performs. For instance handles all the processes running on your computer and deals with the interaction between the software and the hardware. The more processors your computer has and the quality of those processors largely determine how fast your computer will work. The CPU isn't the only important factor. Whilst the CPU governs the running of the processes on your computer the determines how many processes can be running at once. When you run out of memory there is usually some form of swap file on your computer which is used to store idle processes. Disk swapping is bad because the slowest component on your computer is your hard disk drive. Recalling items from a swap file is bad for performance. This brings me on to the next device which in recent years has really helped boost performance and that is. An SSD enables you to store and read back data much faster than a standard hard drive. The main point of this article however is to do with hardware acceleration within Chrome and what this refers to is graphics processing. Most modern computers have a. The quality of your GPU is usually determined by how much you paid for the computer. Gamers will spend a lot more for there computers in order to get a really good graphics card as this device is used to perform mathematical calculations and heavy duty graphics processing tasks such as 3D rendering. Quite simply the better the graphics card the better the experience. Hardware acceleration within Chrome passes most of the graphical intensive tasks within the browser to the GPU which means it makes the most of your hardware. This is good for two reasons. The GPU is designed to handle these tasks and so your browser will perform much better and by using the GPU it frees up the CPU to do other tasks. You would be right in thinking therefore that in 99.9% of cases you will want to have hardware acceleration turned on. What about the other 0.01% of the time? Why would you want to turn hardware acceleration off? Sep 29, 2012. To disable or reduce Hardware Acceleration in Windows 8 or Windows 7, first right-click on the Desktop and from the context menu, choose the Personalization option. Then, select Display from the left panel of the window and click on 'Change display settings'. This will open the 'Troubleshoot' tab. Some people have reported that they get better performance with hardware acceleration turned off. The reason for this is likely to be because the graphics card isn't working properly or they might have the wrong driver installed. Another reason for turning hardware acceleration off might be to reduce power usage when you are using a laptop running on its battery. A final and more cynical reason would be the placebo affect. Somebody wants to believe they have improved their computer's performance by turning off the hardware acceleration. This is probably not really the case. The best way to check whether hardware acceleration is turned on is as follows: • Open Chrome • Within the address bar type chrome://gpu That really is it. A whole host of results will be returned but the bit you are interested in is the section titled 'Graphics Feature Status'. There are 12 items listed under this section: • Canvas • Flash • Flash Stage3D • Flash Stage3D Baseline profile • Compositing • Multiple Raster Threads • Native GpuMemoryBuffers • Rasterization • Video Decode • Video Encode • VPx Video Decode • WebGL The important thing to look for is to the right of each of these items. You should in the main see the words 'Hardware accelerated'. Do not worry if a few of them show as 'Software only, Hardware acceleration disabled'. This is quite normal. The majority such as canvas, Flash, compositing, multiple raster, video decode, video encode and WebGL should be turned on however. If all of your values are set to disabled then you should read on to find out how to turn hardware acceleration on. The first place to go in order to turn on hardware accelerations is the chrome settings page. In order to do this follow these straight forward instructions: • Open the Chrome web browser • Within the address bar enter the following: chrome://settings • Scroll to the very bottom of the page • Click on the advanced settings link • Further options will now be displayed. Scroll again to the very bottom of the page • Under the 'System' heading there is an option called 'Use hardware acceleration when available'. Place a check in the box • The words 'requires Chrome restart' will now appear. Click on the restart link • When Chrome re-opens enter chrome://gpu again and check that the words 'hardware accelerated' appears next to most of the items in the 'Graphics Feature Status' heading If you see that the 'Use hardware acceleration when available' checkbox already has a check in it but your GPU settings showed as disabled then follow the next step. The final thing to try if your hardware is still not showing accelerated is to override one of the many system flags. Follow these steps in order to do this: • Open Chrome • Type chrome://flags into the address bar • Find the section called 'Override software rendering list' • If the hardware is disabled then there should be an 'enable' link. Click on this link. • A blue button appears at the bottom of the page with the words 'Relaunch Now'. Click on this button. • Within Chrome enter chrome://gpu into the address bar At this point the words 'hardware accelerated' should appear next to most of the items under the 'Graphics Feature Status' heading. If the items still show up as being disabled it could signal a problem with your graphics card or the drivers for your graphics card.. To turn off hardware acceleration in Chrome you just need to follow the steps for turning on hardware acceleration but remove the tick from the 'Use hardware acceleration when available' checkbox. Follow these steps to turn off hardware acceleration: • Open Chrome • Enter chrome://settings into the address bar • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the 'advanced settings' link • More options will appear. Scroll down again to the bottom of the page • Under the 'System' heading there will be an option called 'Use hardware acceleration when available'. Remove the tick from the checkbox. • The words 'requires Chrome restart' will appear. Click on the 'restart' link • Enter chrome://gpu into the address bar All of the items under the 'Graphics Feature Status' heading should now show as having hardware acceleration disabled. Better on or off. The site is provided by Mozilla who are the people behind the Firefox web browser. The page provides a number of links which will show how well your browser performs. A very simple demo is provided by this but there are further examples including this and this. If you have a decent graphics card try finding websites with high end Flash animations and games to see whether there is any stuttering. Also try watching high definition videos on Youtube and make sure the video is crystal clear. Unfortunately, hardware acceleration can't help with buffering (this has to do with your internet connection). However, you might find that other features of Chrome perform far better than before. Disclaimer: Sorry but it's an answer for VLC, not mpv player. I believe there are bugs or lack of support in mpv player because in my setup, while VLC is working fine with low CPU, mpv player doesn't. You may face the FFmpeg multithreading issue (see point 4). I've really struggled to get this working, and I'm a bit disapointed of the limited NVIDIA GTX 10*0 (Pascal) HEVC support compared to AMD. First of all: Warning: NVIDIA only supports HEVC Main profile on Linux At the time of writing, NVIDIA driver 367.57 only supports Main, NOT Main 10 and others. That's a NVIDIA Linux driver limitation, the hardware (GTX10*0) technically supports it (MPC-HC on Windows reads Main 10 easily). Note that most 4K movies encoded with HEVC now use the HEVC Main 10 profile. Check media file HEVC profile: You can check your file HEVC profile by right-clicking on your file > Properties > Audio/Video tab > Video > Codec. Check driver HEVC profile support: Switch to the NVIDIA proprietary drivers (see below) and run: $ vdpauinfo Information string: NVIDIA VDPAU Driver Shared Library 367.57 [crop] Decoder capabilities: name level macbs width height ---------------------------------------------------- [crop] HEVC_MAIN 153 2 8192 HEVC_MAIN_10 --- not supported --- HEVC_MAIN_STILL --- not supported --- HEVC_MAIN_12 --- not supported --- HEVC_MAIN_444 --- not supported --- 1. Switch to NVIDIA proprietary drivers You need at least version R367 ( nvidia-367). Software-properties-gtk & Go to Additional drivers tab, check NVIDIA binary driver and Apply the changes. Enable hardware acceleration in VLC Of course, you must enable hardware acceleration in VLC > Tools > Preferences ( Simple) > Input / Codecs > Hardware-acceleration decoding = Auto. For NVIDIA, you can choose VDPAU video decoder explicitely. Update VLC to 2.2.4 or 3.0 There are several bugs in VLC 2.2.2 (Ubuntu 16.04), fixed in later versions ( see: ), that lead to this misleading error: $ vlc --version VLC media player 2.2.2 Weatherwax $ vlc [crop] [00007fa4b42cc5d8] vdpau_avcodec generic error: unsupported codec or profile 1 That's clearly a misleading and buggy error. Hard to tell, but does mean AV_CODEC_ID_HEVC (can be checked by compiling with rustc this ). And we've seen from vdpauinfo that HEVC profile 1 () is supported. At this time, VLC 2.2.4 is not available from the official VLC PPA ( ). So upgrade to VLC 3.0 from the master branch ( ) but keep in mind it's a nightly release: $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/master-daily $ sudo apt update $ sudo apt install vlc $ vlc --version [crop] VLC version 3.0.0-git Vetinari 4. Temporarily disable VLC FFmpeg multithreading As this is not enough, you may now face this issue: $ vlc --verbose [crop] [00007f6bc4ccc688] avcodec decoder warning: thread type 1: disabling hardware acceleration Explainations on at VLC forum: It means you're using FFmpeg, which no longer allows enabling hardware acceleration and threading at the same time. You need to use libav [but] this is decided while compiling VLC. You can't change it at run-time. On the same thread, there's a workaround: In VLC > Tools > Preferences (All) > Input / Codecs > Video codecs > FFmpeg, change the value of Threads from 0 (auto) to 1. And you're done! But that's a manual workaround: keep in mind that to watch videos not GPU-accelerated, you should reset the VLC FFmpeg Threads setting to use all your CPU cores. Description: This is an overview showing you how to permanently disable sleep mode in Windows 8. • Open the advanced options in Windows 8 by holding the Windows key on your keyboard and the letter X. Select the RUN option. • In RUN type GPEDIT.MSC and click OK. • In the Local Group Policy Editor, go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Power Management > Sleep settings. • Now in sleep settings find the Allow applications to prevent automatic sleep (plugged in) if you have a desktop computer. Then go to Edit policy setting. If you have a laptop you will repeat the below steps for the plugged in and battery settings. • Now click the Enabled button, then click Apply and OK. • Now find the Turn on the ability for applications to prevent sleep transition field, go to Edit policy setting, then select Enabled and then Apply and OK. • Next we need to close the group policy editor, hold down the Windows key and the letter X as we did in the beginning and open Run. Then type REGEDIT into the run field and click OK. • Once in the registry editor we need to navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Power. • Inside the power folder click on HibernatedEnabled to edit the field. Change the value from 1 to 0 and click OK. Do the same for the HiberfileSizePercent field as well. Congratulations, you have successfully configured your Windows 8 computer to never go to sleep.
